King Crimson - Starless & Bible Black
BildBild
DGM Announces Comprehensive King Crimson CD/DVD/Blu-ray Box Set Surrounding The ‘Starless and Bible Black’ Era (1973-1974) | Music News by Erik Otis

On October 28th, Robert Fripp and his colleagues at DGM will launch one of the most comprehensive King Crimson releases with the mind blowing 27 disc boxset Starless. Focusing on the groups most celebrated live band of the mid-70’s, the new collection serves up 23 CD’s, 2 DVD-As and 2 Blu-ray Audio of mostly live soundboard material. The set also contains the 2011 stereo mix Fripp and Steven Wilson completed for the latest reissue of Starless and Bible Black to tie in the recorded material the band was using for their live shows at the time. The amount of live material available for the band in their DGM archives alone is staggering and it’s phenomenal to see some of it collected in such a pristine and comprehensive form as done on Starless. If you haven’t been following the groups DGM Live archive, then we highly recommend jumping over there to see all the authentic live material you can purchase directly from the band.

The Starless release is pressed as a 12-inch box with tons of extras in the liner booklet for the most dedicated of Crimson fans. From the product shot DGM offered online alone, my mouth waters over this set and every Crimson fan I know feels the same exact way. The CD’s are housed in digipack three disc fold out panels and the Blu-ray audio offers a bulk of the material in a plethora of mix styles. The overall design to every piece in the package is beyond words and we highly recommend this set if you know the groups material well. King Crimson have announced that this will be a one-time pressing and pre-order copies are already available through a few online retailers. If this is something you feel you’d like to own or want to gift someone, get your orders in now as the amount of copies to be pressed is still unknown and I don’t see this staying on shelves or in online outlets very long.

It was a huge surprise when Robert Fripp announced the new direction King Crimson would be going in last year for King Crimson’s live band, removing Adrian Belew from his 30+ year tenure as the leader of the band and enacting a new phase for the group. New frontman Jakko Jakszyk premiered with the expanded group in New York in early September and the group has been on fire with the live show reviews coming in from media spots all over the States. I absolutely can’t wait to celebrate one of the most prolific points in the groups tour history on Starless and am humbled by how far Robert Fripp has taken this band since their inception in the late 60’s.

Lange Rede kurzer Sinn.
