Wer günstig die wahren "Yes" kennen lernen will: es gibt jetzt die Alben "Fragile" und "Close to the Edge" im Doppelpack, letzteres mit Bonus-Tracks ab 9,99€.

Zur "Fraglie" gibt es ein sehr kurioses Teil. Als dieses Album herauskam musste jeder ausländische Künstler (aus amerikanischer Sicht) einen gewissen Teil seines Produkts / seiner Auflage (Buch, Tonträger) gratis zur Verfügung stellen. Ich kenne leider die Details zu wenig jedoch wurde beiliegende Platte von "Fragile" über die Firma Melody Recordings Inc. erzeugt und vertrieben.

Roger Dean über seine Arbeit am "Fragile"-Cover:

"What I did was I took in the idea of doing like a “Lost Document”, a book, and I had this idea of a kind of creation myth rather like the Dead Sea Scrolls that was found in an old book. So I had the idea of doing it like an old book. I pitched the story more than the pictures and that went down very well but obviously within the constraints of the music industry we couldn’t make a book then. We did subsequently but then it was really just an album cover with some very slight feel of what a book might have been so that’s how that came about. I think a couple of years later I would definitely have made it more like a book and got more of the story into that first thing. The film project we’re working on or have been working on for the last eight years with Yes definitely encapsulates that first creation myth; that boy on a little world that breaks up and he builds an Ark and takes the people to a new planet. That is both in a lot of the Yes albums and that is, not the story of the film but a story within the film."

"We had approximately six weeks to make 'Fragile' from the beginning to the end of the mix. We wanted to expand our studio time because we were realising the possibilities of the work in the studios but traditionally an album took a couple of weeks to make. Probably the first Yes album took no longer than that. We had just a six week window to make 'Fragile' between our touring schedule and that’s why there is only four band tracks on it and the others were individual contributions because we didn’t have the time to rehearse any more and find more songs to fill the album out."
